East Berlin Bike Tour
This tour starts right in the middle of the former socialist center of the capital of the GDR with its striking buildings around Alexanderplatz. Then we head to the Karl-Marx Avenue which used to be the street for parades during the GDR regime. You will see the big park area near the Spree River with the gigantic Soviet memorial and the longst remaining Wall strip with paintings from artists from all over the world: the East-Side-Gallery.

In case of heavy raining the tour will take place by foot. Cancellations and changes – including a change of the number of participants – are free of charge, provided that they are made not later than 48 hours before the start of the tour – payments alread made will be reimbursed. If you have your own bikes, the tour may start at your hotel or at any other central location in Berlin and no bike rentals will be charged.
Bikes and seats for children available if needed – please notify us at time of booking. Helmets are available at the meeting point free of charge, subject to availability. If there are more than 19 people, the group will be split and a second guide will be assigned at no extra charge. The tour can be customized according to your individual needs.
Starting at the former prestige object of the GDR – the television tower – our Berlin bike tour first leads into the former government center of the GDR with the State Council building and the building of the former Central Committee of the socialist party. Afterwards we will follow the former border strip until we reach the East Side Gallery, the longest remaining piece of the Berlin Wall. During our tour we cross several time from from East to West Berlin – and back. Soon we will discover a watchtower on our tour and follow the Spree River until we reach a beer garden for a refreshment break. In the huge Treptower Park we will visit the impressive Soviet War Memorial, the largest of its kind in Germany. When we are heading back to the Television Tower we well get to the street Karl-Marx-Allee and you will almost believe that you are in Moscow. Under the GDR “Palaces for Workers” haven been built along this street including Café Warsaw and Café Moscow.
